...like a kitten sleeping.

I missed today's Metro run & it looks like I will miss tomorrow's Fun Run. It's just a cold. I have had it for a week now, it's getting worse.

Letter from Maria:
Hi there guys!

Alas can't ring like I could in the US- costs too much!- As you would know being half spanish brings out the best in  me and we both absolutely loved spain, despite its dangers to the body!

Madrid is a great city, twas hot and conducive to lots of socialising and eating and drinking! I fully understand their custom of closing down from 3-5 after  main meal of the day and then renergising for walking the streets and hanging out for dinner at bout 9-10 pm! No wonder we found it so difficult to get up at a responsible hour for a run! However, as I mentioned perhaps before?? there was an amazing running track surrounding this beautiful park in Madrid- perfect for a training track and no entry fee or guys asking for tickets! Only managed to use it 3 times  though as a results of our short stay in Madrid! The metro system in Madrid was REALLY good- super clean super fast and super easy for someone like me to follow even in a foreign language!!! We caught the fast train to Barcelona and then took the metro to Sitges- MUST be the gay haven of the world!- I joke NOT. We arrived late in the afternoon and of course as soon as we deposited our gear in the hotel went for a walk and a drink!( It was very hot and humid and the body needed quenching) Well- hit the narrow cobbled streets and  chose one of the many bars and spots with the best view for watching everyone walking by! Needless to say I was most 'engaged' ( as was Peter though he pretends he wasn't) with the entertainment and spectacle. Phew, it was quite exhausting for me giving Peter the overview of fashion sense vibes etc of the passersby- he can be so naïve!

Alas, it was very difficult to run in Sitges- not only the late nights and the alcohol but the hot humid weather made it tough! BUT despite this both Peter and I did get out most days for some type of run, none were too long as cliff just stopped us and so…

From Sitges we headed to Paris and we have already done 2 runs here! We are staying close to the Eiffel Tower and we can say we both ran under the  Eiffel tower and along the Seine> The change in weather is a shock to the system. It's been quite cold and very grey here- no blue sky and back to jeans and jackets- much easier for running although we have not found a great  running route yet! Heaps of walking though – walked from hotel and to Champs elysees and Notre dame etc yesterday and back again so certainly did the exercise! Today we went to the Sacre Coeur and  I managed some shops!!!!

We head to Beaume in Burgundy in a couple of days for a 6-7 day bike ride through  vineyards in Burgundy and catch up with Julia and Marc before heading to Dublin to see my cousin Eamonn.

Hope all is well with all  of you- no doubt you are all training hard and will run brilliantly in the Canberra Times this Sunday.Keep us informed of your exploits! See you all in a month when we're again home.

Love to all

Maria and Peter
