What cool change?

quote of the week: " "Believe in yourself, know yourself, deny yourself, and be humble." - John Treacy's four principles of training

My training progress
last week's target: 90k, actual 34k
this week’s target: 90k
weight: 64kg and steady

A combination of feeling unwell, and stinking hot weather, means I have been running very little of late. Reading the blogs of other runners around Australia I see that there has been respite from the heat in most capitals; not here in Canberra though; not yet. Here the maximum temperature has been consistently mid thirties, with smoke from the Victorian bushfires adding to our discomfort.

song of the week: Radiohead - Paranoid Android, from "Ok Computer"

"Rain down, rain down, come on rain down on me
"From a great height, from a great height, height"

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?

1. Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?

FOOTNOTES

1. We are back to normal training tonight at Parliament House. "Normal" might mean running in steamy heat. Or avoiding large raindrops. Or both at the same time.

2. Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully I can get a good run in at the Parliament House relays before meeting up with everyone at della Rocca, for our training group dinner, tomorrow evening. But for now, today is your last chance to rsvp for the dinner.

3. If you can start the day without a cigarette,
If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can get going without pep pills,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can honestly say that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics,
Then, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog.
