red bellies

Training at Parliament House: It is January which means 5 Mondays of interval training, or "speed-endurance" as I used to call it. Kym & I ran early when it was quite hot, then we were joined for the main session by Cookie, Andy, Bronwyn, David B, Ewen, Jill, Lauren & Ruth. Each week we are stopping during the warm-up run to test ourselves on the chin-up bar, where a couple of us nearly managed 4. More work required! Despite it being the first warm day this summer, we ran the scheduled set of 10 x 200m on 3 minutes, from the Rose Garden where a 240m recovery jog is required after each interval. The 200m track there is now grassy instead of sandy. Bronwyn ran further and completed 13 200s, while Jill rested twice and ran 8.

Summer heat brings out some interesting wildlife...

Red bellied blacks are out and about this summer. Highly venomous. Photo taken mid-December at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, in the ACT.
