She’s Leaving Home

Posted by speedygeoff on Saturday, August 16, 2008 with

Tonight at 8pm we farewell Emma who is leaving Canberra for Vancouver. Emma is on the right of picture. Emma has performed brilliantly in everything from 3k track to long distance mountain races. We will so miss her.

It is sunny today - bring back the rain!

Here are the Sunday Olympic events I hope to be watching ("hope" because who knows if and when Prime will show an event? Not me. Not anyone. "Hopeless", more like it!)

9:30 Women Marathon Final Benita Johnson, Kate Smyth, Lisa Weightman
21:00 Women 100m hurdles Heats Sally McLellan
23:00 Women 400m Semi Finals Tamsyn Lewis
23:55 Men 1500m Semi Finals
00:45 Men 10,000m Final

Australian marathon record holder Benita Johnson

Go Benita!

Local races: I might just go to the Cross Country at Dunrossil Drive today, although I hadn't planned to. But, "make hay while the sun shines". And tomorrow is the High Noon 1500m, could be good weather there too, before winter strikes again early next week.

Yet another sports star

Eight year old grandson Josiah, who plays in the under nines for Queanbeyan Tigers, was featured in the latest edition of the Tigers Club Junior Football newsletter wearing the polo shirt he was awarded.
