Sunday 12 August: [Dave]: Another great speedygeese long run event with 18 starters, despite C2S competing for runners. From Mawson playing fields following the start of the Tour de Ridges, up Farrer Hill and then various loops and so on, depending which group we ended up in.
As de facto tail runner for the 12k, I followed Sue, Sandeep and Monique clockwise around Isaacs Ridge, while a group of 6 went anticlockwise and we crossed paths and said our goodbyes at the top of the hill. The remaining group of 8 was nowhere to be seen.
At the end Shiree, who organised today’s run, miraculously appeared alone at the same time as us. Martin, Shiree and James had gone to Mount Taylor to complete almost 20k. Martin and James turned up shortly after and the others were never again spotted (except Allie, who turned up at Fox and Bow only to find we didn’t have a table).
Apart from various meanderings and detours, it was a great run. No one stole the speedygeese flag, which was left flying for Isaacs grandad to pick him up, and no injuries were reported. Plus it was excellent weather and great views of the snow on the Brindabellas and even more out near Kowen Forest.
Thanks for the run everyone and thanks Shiree for organising. See you at Martin’s run next week.
By the way, there will be a separate C2S event report, including William’s incredible 55:30 PB and Pieta’s 64.10 PB.
Monday 13 August at Parliament House: I ran 8x200m Rose Garden intervals, while running 10 x 200m were Jennie, Craig, Ruth, Dave, Giles, Isaac, Tom and Anthony.
Thursday 16 August at Parliament House: A set of 12 runs, 100m uphill, 50m downish, then return and repeat on 2:30. This was completed by Craig, Jennie, Allie, Isaac, Jacob, Brownie, Anthony, and me, while Dave jogged around nearby.
That's it from me for 2 or 3 weeks!
