Pennington Preview
The Pennington 3000m to be run tomorrow features start groups handicapped on age and sex, based (allegedly) on world standards. Looking at the actual times the groups set off, I calculate that the outcome is simple really - if Kathy Southgate were to run she would blitz the field. In her likely absence, Elaine Cooper is the hot favourite and should easily hold out Trevor Jacobs. In the likely event that Trevor is not there, the places should be fought out by Paul Considine and Colin Farlow, somewhat behind the winner. Of course, none of this is certain....
