High temperatures are predicted for Canberra this week, but I think it is likely to be much hotter than forecast, with heat wave conditions moving across Australia from the west as we speak.
Do take care.
Symptoms of heat exhaustion included nausea, faintness and dizziness, loss of appetite, weakness, headaches, vomiting, and reduced sweating and urine output due to a lack of fluids in the body.
A fast 10k run in heat is just as good a training session as a 20k run in the cool.
Keep as cool as possible. Seek shade. Eat as well as drink. Make sure you are sweating. Run in company.
At Parliament House tonight we will probably train on the western side. At the little grassy oval, there is a toilet and shower block. I imagine I will be putting my head completely under the shower more than once. Forget dignity; health comes first.

Saturday 14/11 9:00am Stromlo intervals at Deeks Forest Park
Note that on Saturday we have changed the meeting place from Stromlo Forest Park - the cross country track is well and truly closed - to Deeks Forest Park - entrance off Uriarra Road near Cotter Road. That's where we will continue to meet until the cross country track is re-opened sometime in February.
Two years ago in this blog I said that I had been told the track would "never close". Then I posted this:
It was too easy to predict, really.
Happy Birthday Jackson, six today!
There will be balloons.
