A couple of speedygeese who were going to run, I thought, didn't turn up after all. They missed a cool evening and a very quiet park and cycle path. Very few Canberrans were out and about other than us runners. Perfect. I approached the run as an even-paced tempo run, a minute or two slower than "flat out". Surprisingly it was quite a good time but I felt comfortable, talking-pace-level all the way, and ran even splits, which leads me to believe the flatness I experienced last weekend was either (a) loss of heat adaptation, and/or (b) a virus which has now been fought off.

The course was possibly as short as 4.85k instead of the advertised 5k, but made up for it to some extent with its degree-of-difficulty. I expect the same effort on the track would have given me around 21 minutes or better for 5k.

And now, in breaking news, Annette and Dale are leaving Canberra for Brisbane very soon. As I don't think I can make their farewell this weekend, I will farewell them now. By-eee!

Annette running a good half.

The 50,000th hit on this blog will occur tomorrow, probably. There will be a prize for the 50,000th person if I can figure out who he or she is! Identification via sitemeter stats can be difficult and sometimes impossible. But it might be you! So read my blog again tomorrow.
