How Monday training went last night

Posted by speedygeoff on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 with
A big turn-out on a damp night. Present, not running, but there for the photo were Joel with Maya and Vianne; I blew the whistle each 80 seconds for the runners to take off up the NE hill at Parliament House; training there and doing 15 intervals were Rebecca (new), Sév (new), and Allie with Peach, Tiffany, Gwen, Richard, Bernardo, Deborah D, Jenny M, Jennie, Ruth, Rae, Yelena, Michael, and Paul Q.

Injured!

Posted by speedygeoff on Sunday, July 28, 2019 with
So on Tuesday I was limping during a run I cut short, and on Wednesday even walking was difficult. It was painful just to move. Thursday I saw a physio, and today (Sunday) I walked/jogged "around the block" (about 1.1k) to see how long it would take in case I get some consistent gradual improvement, so I can compare future runs of this loop, and as a warm-up for some exercising (later). Walking has become slightly easier over the last couple of days. What the injury is has not yet been diagnosed. But I will be having an X-ray tomorrow, which will tell us if it's something serious.

I will keep enjoying my activities, whatever they turn out to be, and make a point of getting out to others' races when I can,

This is at the turn of the Torrens parkrun yesterday.

And here's our very own Lisa celebrating a fast time at Ginninderra.

Smaller numbers on a cold Thursday night

Posted by speedygeoff on Thursday, July 25, 2019 with
On Thursday I had a Physio appointment, then I turned up late to speedygeese training in time for the post-run-photo, then I visited friends and ate a small non-runner's dinner and got home late. Hopefully I will resume jogging on Sunday.

Photo and words by Ruth:

We welcomed Megan to our Speedygeese session tonight. A small happy Thursday group for our 200m intervals on a pleasant evening. — with Lisa, [me], Paul Q, Brownie, Jennie, Dave, Megan and Ruth.

דיה לצרה בשעתה One Problem At A Time.

It's strange how a bit of Hebrew in the heading of an otherwise insignificant post has resulted in that post being consistently the most popular. Is there curiosity about its meaning? It's a 2014 post! So I have included the Hebrew quote again today to see what will happen.

Today I will organise some treatment on my leg, which has become quite sore, and postpone any running to another day.

Meanwhile, at the circus:
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.

My winter running streak day 23

Posted by speedygeoff on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 with
I was very sore today, presumably the result of a race on Saturday and hill sprints on Monday. So I will take it pretty easy for the rest of the week. Today I limped 3k and that was enough.

A finishing sprint on Saturday, one of my best runs in recent memory:

Posted by speedygeoff on Monday, July 22, 2019 with
Speedygeese training consisted of 12 hilly sprints; participating were Matthew (new), Erica, Vanessa H, Warrick, Paul Q, Jennie, Richard, Mick, Bernardo, Jenny M, Deborah D, Rachel, Kahlia (29 today), Michael, Bill, and me. Miranda ran early, and Dave was seen jogging nearby. I ran every second hill sprint and totalled 6k for the session.

My winter running streak day 21

Posted by speedygeoff on Sunday, July 21, 2019 with
It was winter when I got up this morning. Minus 5 degrees early on, minus 3 when I arrived at Stromlo. I ran 6k. At Stromlo Forest Park there was sun, moon, ice, hundreds of kangaroos frozen to the spot, me with beanie, gloves, tracky dacks, long sleeve top.

The speedygeese found the fog, too.

My winter running streak day 20

Posted by speedygeoff on Saturday, July 20, 2019 with
I ran the Runners Shop 5k today: I had a choice of a parkrun with a forecast temperature of 0 degrees, or the 1pm run at 12 degrees, I chose the latter. Total 9k, the 5k was a good 23:22. Km splits were all over the place, an indicator of how hard I was pushing.

This time I managed to do the training session with the speedygeese, running 6 x 400m on 5 minutes including jogging back. I ran 7k in total. Others participating were Lisa, James, Jennie, Ruth, Jenny M, Isaac, Brownie, and Allie with Peach.

That's all for today, goodnight.

My winter running streak day 16

Posted by speedygeoff on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 with
Today I jogged 4k from the Kippax shops. Despite getting away for a couple of days around the weekend, I still haven't got my mojo back.

Celina and Chloe looking relaxed.

Very relaxed!

That's what I need, another holiday already.
