1. Nic Bideau article
Nic Bideau is the coach of Benita Johnson and Craig Mottram, Australia's two best distance runners. There has been a lot of interest in what Nic Bideau has to say about his coaching methods. And rightly so. The article is entitled: "COACHING MIDDLE AND LONG DISTANCE RUNNERS". I have reproduced it in full, with permission, from "Coaching Middle and Long Distance Runners: A Commentary" Modern Athlete and Coach, Volume 44, Number 3, July 2006 .
2. Running Faster, Running Further
This is an article I posted on 4 November 2007, based on two items I wrote for Vetrunner magazine. The title is "HOW TO RUN FASTER AND FURTHER". It introduces the idea of running at a fast tempo, 180 steps per minute. A good idea for a whole lot of reasons. Associated with that, a beats-per-minute analyser for your music can be found at http://www.mixmeister.com/. A list of songs (but to my taste) is here. There are more, I have to analyse my "Relient K" albums next, their tracks sound rather fast....
3. Predicting Race Times
You might be interested in viewing the Race Time Predictor which helps you work out what you might run for a specific distance based on times you can run for other distances. There is also a discussion on predictors here focusing on the difficulty of predicting 800m times. But remember to aim high.
4. I believe in Principles, not Programs.
"Speedygeoff's Principles of Training" sums up my ideas. "Sums up"? No, no, "Spells them out" would be better. "Brings them together in one place". There, that's it.
5. Reflections On The Road To Better Coaching.
This is an address I gave at a coaching seminar a few years ago. Now to write something called "on the road to keeping people awake at seminars".
