This morning, a perfect Canberra spring morning, I ran 8k at Stromlo with Ewen, including striding out six times over 200m. The savage October magpie was nowhere in sight, again.
Here's Giles (21.01) running at Ginninderra parkrun yesterday. See, there were dogs.

My running streak day 18
I ran 6.2k on soft grass trying to recruit some fast twitch fibres for Saturday's 5k, while not over exerting. The speedygeese ran Rose Garden 200s: Jennie, Ruth, Lisa, Tori, Brownie, Isaac, Jen, Colin and Anthony. Ewen and Dave trotted around with them. Also spotted were Jacob, Lisa's Andrew, Lucy and Oliver, and a couple of Muscats.

My running streak day 17
A visit to the gym for an hour in the morning didn't involve any running.
In the afternoon I did a 3k tempo run from home, to keep the streak going.
More inspiring is one of our speedier speedygeese, Sarah Maree.

My running streak day 16
I am still finding 8k a bit long. I am still hoping to adapt and go longer in future. So, today, I ran 8.3k at about 6's.
Here's one fast speedygoose, Sarah-Jayne.

My running streak day 13.
I ran the Gungahlin parkrun today and surprised myself by doing a 2018 pb of 23.38, even faster than the flat Seacliff course a few weeks ago where I tried hard for a 23.55. Perhaps the running streak is working.

My running streak day 7
My first Sunday run back at Stromlo Forest Park for a while. Most Sundays for now I plan to arrive there at 8:00am, at least until the hot weather arrives. If any reader would like to join me there, you are welcome. Otherwise please avail yourself of the weekly long Sunday morning run organised by trail running members of the speedygeese.
Because I haven't trained there for a while, this week it was an easy warm-up, followed by 6 x 200m strides, then an easy cool-down.
I was joined by Andrew.
Andrew's parkrun, yesterday at Ginninderra. 21:48.
Father and son Kevin 21:49 and Jacob 21:33 at the same parkrun yesterday.
Three fast parkrunners!

My running streak day 6
Gungahlin parkrun, in a time of 28:33, running with Suzie who was pushing her birthday girl Sophia (2 years old today) in a stroller. This was Suzie's first stroller sub 30 minute run.
I totalled 13k or so for the morning.
Early on. Suzie in purple.
Sprint to the line. Suzie still in purple. Sophia keen to finish and go and play in the park.
Note - I have both feet on the ground.

Andy at Urunga
Look who was running the Urunga parkrun last Saturday. Yes it's Andy Matthews!
With a 23:38 PB there, he has been running consistently around the 23-24 minute range.
Andy Writes:
I have rented a large 4 bed room house, so there is plenty of room for visitors.
Urunga is about 5 minute away from the Pacific highway, about 30 minutes before Coffs Harbour.
It’s a small town of 3000 or so people. It has a good pub, a couple of clubs, and a few good cafes/restaurants. It has a library, post office and small supermarkets.
We have a parkrun with sea views, Saturday at 7.00 am.
The Bellinger and Kalang rivers flow into the sea here, and the town is most famous for the boardwalk, which goes from the town centre along the estuary to the open sea.
It’s a very pleasant laid back sort of place with a great climate.
15 minutes away is the very different town of Bellingen – lots of good restaurants, pubs with live music, festivals, markets etc. One of my favourite places.
If you are coming up this way, it would be great to see you.
I have been trying to buy a house for a while, but good properties are very rare and I have been a bit slow. Hopefully this will be sorted soon. Then I can quit work!
I am just about to go for a holiday in the UK and Spain, spending some time with my folks and Anna and Joe.
Hope things are good with you.
Cheers
Andy

My running streak day 4
I am still aiming not to miss a day... despite experiencing the most crazy and weird week this has been so far (except the running is alright).
Anyway tonight it was 4 x 800m with 400m jog in 8.3k. Which is only 5 miles, seemed longer. Most of the other speedygeese ran 600m repeats. Present at training were Peter, Anthony, Colin, Jennie, Jen, Isaac, and Daniel, our youngest active speedygosling (see below). Plus me.
Streaks? Some speedgeese have other priorities and interests as well. The lovely Mhairi.

Seacliff parkrun #2
My best parkrun time this year - 23:55 - two weeks ago at Seacliff, Adelaide. It's a genuine 5k, and avoiding dogs on leads was an occasional challenge.
And what a lovely sunny morning it was.
Today begins a new training program, and given that it's spring, an attempt at a continuous running streak.
I didn't run yesterday, today is "Day 1".
