I'm a bit late posting today - and haven't had time to check out race results from the last few days - no internet connection all morning! Methinks netspeed was down.

My son Nathan is officially a soldier today. I am amazed at what he had to go through during his basic training. But he never gave up. He even did over and above what he was told to do. And ended up winning the most prestigious award given to recruits, the "Most Outstanding Soldier" award. That's my boy.

Yes, "Musician Nathan Moore" was the most outstanding soldier and received this trophy. We had three exciting days in Wagga Wagga and Kapooka, and Nathan is now heading for Melbourne to complete the musical side of his training.

(Click to enlarge). Nathan and his wife Lisa. Lisa and youngest son Samuel flew from Brisbane to Canberra and then came with us up to Wagga Wagga for the occasion.

  1. Congratulations Geoff and Jenny on raising such an amazing young man. You deserve to be very very proud:)

  2. Wow. Nice looking trophy.

P.S. Thanks for not breaking my WR for 2 laps of Lake Albert.

  3. Well done to Nathan. What instrument/s does he play?

  4. Nathan's primary instrument is keyboard, he graduated from the school of music in jazz keyboard and has been playing ever since. I don't actually know if he has recently played other instruments but he will need to have some secondary instruments. No problem learning new instruments I imagine, he was a good french horn player as a teen. A Canberra posting seems likely as they currently have no specialist keyboard players. We will know very soon where he will end up, I am told it is out of Sydney, Canberra and Wagga.
